What is the role of the Kincardine & District Chamber of Commerce for business in the community?

We are a vehicle for education, advocation and communication for our members to the community. We strive to uphold our motto "A voice for business in the community" by offering, networking opportunities, advertisement and support to our members. We are a proud member of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce.

How does the Kincardine & District Chamber of Commerce represents itself in the community?

For over 35 years the Chamber has brought the town's Santa Claus Parade, which has been a community favourite, drawing thousands of spectators to greet Santa over the holidays at no cost to those participating and those attending. We also celebrate our business community by holding the Kincardine Community Achievement Awards, a fun evening where we shine a spotlight on the businesses, people and community groups that help make Kincardine a great place to live. We also hold a Home and Cottage Expo, where it gives an opportunity to businesses in the area to showcase their products and services. We also hold a 10 day Fish Derby, where hundreds of anglers from all over Southwestern Ontario compete to win a $5000 shopping spree from Canadian Tire with secondary prizes of $1000 from Lake Huron Rod and Guns.

For our members we hold training sessions and networking opportunities to stay current on laws and news that affect business in our region. We are also part of Kincardine's Community Economic Development Committee. Members are also able to access resources from the Ontario Chamber of Commerce.

What is the price of membership and what is included in the price?

The cost of membership is $150 plus HST per year. This helps cover the cost of our operation and administrative costs, as well as membership to the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. By joining the chamber you will receive Chamber signage to proudly display at your place of business, a free listing on our website, the ability to send communications to other members through our Executive Director's mailing list, an opportunity to showcase your business on both community stations through "What's Happening" on BMTS and "Chamber Chat" on Rogers. Both of these shows air for the whole month, they are a perfect way to get the word out. Other benefits include receive letters of support from our Chamber President and Export stamps. As a member you also get exclusive deals, workshops and networking opportunities with our members and members from neighbouring chambers. As a member you are also eligible to receive a reduced rate on health benefits through the Chamber of Commerce health plans.

How can I get involved with the Chamber of Commerce?

Although not a necessity for being a member, we have several committees that meet for events throughout the year. We are also currently looking for a couple of Directors to sit on the Board, if you would like to be part of the decision making process, please let Terry Ann our Executive Director know and she will facilitate it for you.

If I am part of Lakeside Downtown Kincardine (BIA) am I a member of the Kincardine Chamber of Commerce?

No, only those who have paid for their yearly membership fees are members of the Chamber of Commerce. We welcome and encourage members of the BIA to join the Chamber of Commerce for exclusive networking, educational and advertising opportunities.

When are renewals and is there a fee for not for profit groups?

Renewals are done at the beginning of our calendar year on July 1st. As the Chamber of Commerce is a not-for profit organization we cannot charge a not for profit rate, therefore all rates are $150 plus HST.
