About FIG Studio Kitchen
Lets start from the beginning. David and Veronika met at Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario in September of 1987. Both were enrolled in the 2 year Culinary Management program. After graduating they moved to Niagara Falls for the first year and then decided to move back to David’s hometown of Ripley, Ontario. David was the Executive Chef of several prominent restaurants in Kincardine and Veronika worked in customer service/hospitality industry becoming a manager in several of her jobs.
In 2000 they began their career in the grocery business where they were both managers. During this time they also were still quite active catering many events large and small. After breaking his femur at the 2017 Boston Marathon, David was able to begin to think about going back to what he always loved doing....cooking! The opportunity came up for a “Win This Space” contest in Huron-Kinloss Township and they specifically wanted an eatery. So, then it began....first applying, then qualifying and finally winning the contest. The next chapter of their life was set to begin where it had left off years earlier. Everything seemed right and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. FIG Studio Kitchen was now going to be a reality. Spending all of fall 2017 and winter 2018, they began designing the restaurant, menu, kitchen and everything else it takes to open a restaurant in a town of 800 people. On August 13th, 2018 we opened our doors!
Today, FIG Studio Kitchen is an upscale restaurant serving lunch and dinner, and brunch on Sundays, using locally sourced ingredients, whenever possible.
